New Sexual Harassment Training Requirements in Connecticut

The Connecticut “Time’s Up Act” became effective on October 1, 2019.  This law imposes new and expanded training requirements upon employers of all sizes.  The new requirements are discussed below.

Employers with less than 3 employees are now required to provide supervisors with sexual harassment training within one year of October 1, 2019 and also provide all new supervisors with training within six (6) months of the date of commencement of supervisory activities. 

Employers with more than three (3) but less than fifty (50) employees must post in a prominent place and accessible location information concerning the illegality of sexual harassment and remedies available to victims of sexual harassment as well as post on the company website.  In addition, employers must provide the company’s policy, entitled “Sexual Harassment Policy” to all employees no later than three (3) months after their start date.  Employers must also provide training and education to all employees hired after October 1, 2019 within six (6) months of their start date

Employers with fifty (50) or more employees must provide two (2) hours of training and education to all employees by October 1, 2020 and to all new supervisory employees within six (6) months of the date of the date of commencement of supervisory activities.
