Royal Attorneys Successfully Obtain Order Granting Motion for Summary Judgment

Published:  September 4, 2019

Royal attorneys successfully obtained an order granting in its entirety Royal’s motion for summary judgment for a major national corporation client in federal court on claims involving gender discrimination, quid pro quo sexual harassment, retaliation and aiding and abetting discrimination.

The court ruled in favor of Royal’s argument that the Plaintiff had not presented sufficient evidence to support her claim of quid pro quo sexual harassment, gender discrimination or retaliation. The court based its opinion on Royal’s showing that the decision to terminate the plaintiff was made before the date on which her unsupported claim alleged that sexual harassment occurred, and the plaintiff’s own sworn statements contradicting her claim of gender discrimination. The court also ruled in favor of Royal’s argument that, as a matter of law, an organization cannot “aid and abet” itself.
