Massachusetts Voters Approve Recreational Marijuana

Published:  November 9, 2016

On Tuesday, Massachusetts voters legalized marijuana for recreational use.  The new law goes into effect next month, on December 15, 2016.  Although this law does not impact an employer’s ability to implement and enforce drug-free workplace policies, now is a good time to review your policies and your drug testing practices.  The legalization of marijuana for recreational use will no doubt create challenges for employers in Massachusetts.  Employers are encouraged to consult with counsel to address any issues that may arise.
