New Massachusetts Parental Leave Law Will Go into Effect Tomorrow

Published:  April 6, 2015

Effective tomorrow, April 7th, parental leave in Massachusetts will be extended to cover male employees.  The Massachusetts Parental Leave Act will allow both women and men to take up to eight weeks off of work for the birth of a child or for the adoption or court-ordered placement of a child under the age of 18 (or a physically disabled child under the age of 23).  Previously, Massachusetts law only granted “maternity” leave to female employees.
